The Chandima charity, established under the 1901 Act, was founded in January 2005 in the wake of the Asian tsunami. Chandima’s aim was to help the tsunami victims in Sri Lanka rebuild their lives. By choosing the name Chandima, we are paying tribute to a little girl we knew who was swept away by the wave. Her name was Chandima.

Today, Chandima’s work focuses on educational projects and ensuring that children from disadvantaged backgrounds receive an education; in these communities, poverty persists as a result of more than 30 years of civil war, natural disasters such as drought, crops destroyed by wild animals, floods and landslides, in which families can lose everything.
